Interesting facts about that Mountain in Sri Lanka which has a historical association with Ramayana

Even after 10,000 years, Shri Ram's pious life, sacrifices, public conduct and warrior mindset is deeply ingrained in the subconscious of majority Hindus.

Ramayana, one of the greatest epics of the world, is full of events that prove the superhuman life of Shri Ram, Lakshman, Sita and Hanuman. Several present day sites trace back their history to hair-raising events of Ramayana.

For example, Ram-Setu bridge was a super-human feat of that era, which was an outcome of advanced engineering skills of Nal and Neel. Today, global scientific community has accepted Ram Setu to be a man-made bridge. Interestingly, several present day material formations prove the unfolding of events during Ramayana. Some events and consequent change in the earthly arrangement are indicative of mind-boggling capabilities of Heroes and villains in Ramayana.

Hanuman ji's ability to travel across the length of Bharat to reach Himalayas, and then manually carry a mountain to Sri Lanka just in time to save the lives of Ram and Lakshman is one such example. These events are explained in the chapters 74 and 102 of Yudhkanda of Valmiki Ramayana.

In chapter 74, Inderjit used Brahmastra against Bhagwan Ram, Lakshman and their entire army, which made all of them unconscious. However, Hanuman ji, Vibhishan and Jambavan escaped the impact of Inderjit's weapon. Then Jambavan had requested Hanuman ji to search for four types of Herbs namely, Mrita Sanjivani, Vishalya Karani, Suvarna Karani and Sandhani to cure the ailments caused by Inderjit's weapon. All these herbs were available between Kailash and Rishabha mountain, however, Hanuman ji struggled to identify these herbs. As a result, Hanuman ji lifts the entire mountain range and carries it to Sri Lanka.

The strong healing power of the herbs helped Shri Ram, Lakshman and the entire army in regaining their consciousness.

A similar episode occurred in Chapter 102, when Lakshman ji suffered heavy injuries due to Interjit's arrows and later lost consciousness. Then Sugriva sent Hanuman ji to extract herbs from Mahodara mountain located in Dronagiri range (which is now identified as Dunagiri in Almora district of Uttarakhand state).

In present day Sri Lanka, 'Sri Pada' mountain is considered to be the same mountain that Hanuman ji carried from Dronagiri range. It is a unique mountain in Sri Lankan mountain range. The vegetation on mountain is similar to the vegetation on Himalayas and is in contrast with Sri Lankan fauna. The mountain is rich with different medicinal herbs and is believed to have Himalayan origins.

Senior BJP Leader and Hindutva Warrior, Dr Subramanian Swamy to lead the fight for Kashi Gyanvapi Liberation

Dr Subramanian Swamy is the Hindu Dharma Rakshak, a Warrior, whose combative style is now uniting Hindutva forces under his umbrella. His success at Ram Mandir and Ram Setu has paved way for other disputed sites, which have suffered due to Islamic invasions.

Sants and Hindu activists across India are now queuing up for Dr Swamy's help in relieving temples from government control and restoring grand old Hindu temples that were lost to invaders. Just recently, the all India apex body of Hindu Seers and Saints, 'Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti' (ABSS) have decided to restore Kashi Gyanvapi site (Kashi Vishwanath Mandir) and Mathura Janamsthan  back to the original glory.

At a meeting that was held in March 2020, ABSS formed the Shri Kashi Gyanvapi Mukta Yagna Committee for the liberation of Kashi Gyanvapi site. As per the meeting, senior BJP leader, Dr Subramanian Swamy will be the president of the committee and will explore & push for all possible options to restore Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Advocate Vijay Shankar Rastogi will work as vice-president and Swami Jeetendrananda as General Secretary of the of Sri Kashi Gyanvapi Mukti Yagna Samiti.

Tweeting on the above, Dr Swamy mentioned that liberation of Kashi Gyanvapi site is essential for the achievement of Hindu Renaissance. Dr Swamy expressed hope that Muslim community will cooperate with Hindus in this matter.

With this development, Dr Swamy has become the De-facto chief of all Hindutva matters. It is evident by the extent of support he is garnering within the Hindutva world.

With Ram Mandir dream becoming a reality, Hindus heading towards a new era of Ram Rajya!

Heartiest congratulations to all fellow Hindu brothers and sisters on the historic occasion of foundation ceremony of Ram Janam Bhoomi. Ram Mandir victory is sweet and belongs to every Hindu across the street in different parts of India. From a simple sadhu to a common householder and from ground level Kar sewaks to Dr Subramanian Swamy, every Hindu is happy and looking forward to see the beginning of a new era.

For 500 years, Hindus fought to restore the pride and honor of Bharat-Khand and to witness the resurrection of the invincible Prabhu Shri Ram who took birth in the material world to redeem his devotees and enemies both. After 5th August 2020, Hindus will soon be witness to the grand Ram lala temple in Ayodhya.

While everyone played his part very well, few fighters deserve special mention for this historic victory. For example, the Kothari brothers who laid down their lives in the service of Prabhu Shri Ram. The untimely death of these two young brothers galvanized Hindus across the country, which strengthened the Ram Janam Bhoomi movement. A dozen other activists and Sadhus like  Bairagi Abhiram Das, Devraha Baba, Moropant Pingle, Mahant Avaidyanath and others played their respective role for Ram Mandir during different eras.

In the present day, former VHP President, Late Ashok Singhal ji and current BJP leader, Dr Subramanian Swamy played the most prominent role in making this dream come true. How can one forget that famous image of Ashok Singhal ji, where his head was bleeding profusely yet he was leading from the front and giving instructions to karsewaks at a time when Mulayam Singh Yadav's government had ordered police action against Karsewaks.

Years later, during UPA's decade of darkness, Ashok Singhal ji came in close contact with Dr Swamy primarily due to concerns over dredging of Ram Setu, which was of course resolved by Dr Swamy in the last minute court battle. Ashok Singhal ji had also formed firm belief that Ram Mandir matter can be resolved by the indomitable Dr Subramanian Swamy.

In 2015, when Ashok Singhal ji was battling with poor health, he took Dr Swamy's promise to keep fighting for Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. Never to back-off from his words, Dr Swamy initiated Ram Mandir battle in the courts. In 2016, his writ petition (on Fundamental Right to Worship at RJB site) got listed in the SC. Thereon, Dr Swamy resolutely pursued the matter in SC and his relentless fight finally took proper shape in 2019, when SC agreed for day-to-day hearings for Ram Mandir.

Dr Swamy's WP added great deal of ammunition to otherwise lacklustre title dispute, which was languishing in SC from 2010 to 2016. His argument on 'Fundamental right to worship' gave a new lease of life to prevailing hopelessness in the matter. In the present context, especially from 2010 to 2020, Dr Swamy's fight for Ram Mandir is exceptional.

Dr Swamy is truly blessed to have completed two significant works (Ram Setu & Ram Mandir) of Shri Ram and all Hindus are truly blessed to see Dr Swamy in action.

Over-dependence on Chinese Telecom companies like Huawei is detrimental for Indian Telecom sector

In the wake of growing tensions with China, Indian telecom sector is grappling with new challenges related to implementation and  selection of wireless infrastructure in the country. Historically, India has been dependent on Chinese firms (such as Huawei and ZTE) for the roll out of telecom infrastructure.

However, industry stakeholders are now maintaining caution over Chinese engagement in the possible roll out of 5G technology in the country. Amid Covid-19 crisis, China's global image has taken a severe hit due to its suspicious conduct in hiding the spread of virus.

China's track record of intellectual property rights violations have further aggravated its issues with US. As a result, US & European countries have banned Huawei and ZTE amid growing concerns of espionage and snooping. In February 2014, Huawei and ZTE were also reported to have hacked BSNL network and the matter was discussed in the parliament. An inquiry commission was formed to investigate the matter, however, the report hasn't been submitted till today.

With Chinese manufacturers controlling 75% share of the Indian telecom infrastructure market, the current situation in the telecom sector looks grim. Since Huawei has significant investments in the sector, it desperately wants to be part of 5G auction process. On the contrary, US has banned Huawei in the US market and don't want it to be a part of Indian Telecom market, as this can also facilitate the Chinese manufacturer to gain proxy access to US equipments.

Interestingly, IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Delhi have exhibited their capabilities in 5G technology. While IIT Madras developed an indigenous 5G test bed in 2018, IIT Delhi has set up a 5G lab in collaboration with Ericsson. Unfortunately, the government only allocated ₹250 crore for the development of such a prominent next generation platform.

The government committed a strategic error in ignoring domestic innovations in 5G, which has amplified the existing telecom crisis in India. Moreover, engagement with Chinese manufacturers will adversely impact security of India's wireless infrastructure.

Apart from IIT innovation labs, Reliance JIO claims to have developed 5G solution, which will be available for deployment in 2021. Other players such as Vodafone and Airtel have been dependent on Huawei for their 3G and 4G platforms. With government deciding to keep Huawei out, operating costs of these communication service providers will increase considerably.

In national interest, the government can adopt the following measures to safeguard Telecom infrastructure domain in the absence of Chinese firms:
  • Increase government spending on IIT innovation labs in order to facilitate mass adoption.
  • Establish a separate PSU or form a new team of engineers under BSNL for 5G rollout.
  • Form partnership agreements with other global telecom infra majors such as Samsung, Apple and Ericsson to seek knowledge sharing in 5G rollout.
  • Neutralize attempts of 5G monopolization by firms such as Reliance Jio to safeguard consumer interests.
Calls for 'Make in India' or 'Vocal for local' will gain credibility only if government encourages domestic innovation, which later develops capabilities to replace foreign technologies.

Withdraw minority specific reservations at Minority institutions, funded by tax payers money, to bring parity in education system

Minority institutions across India receive grants from government and channelize a large percentage of these funds for the welfare and benefits of minorities such as Christians, Muslims, Jains, Parasis etc. Such inconsistencies rip-off the right of hard-working and meritorious hindu students to receive benefits of better education from these institutes.

Despite having a meritorious record, majority Hindu students are left out from these educational institutions only because of their religious background. With 50% of the seats reserved for minorities, general category Hindu students have to fight for remaining seats. This is the prevalent trend among so called prestigious minority colleges such as St Stephens, St Xaviers, Jesus & Mary College, Loyola College etc.

In a recent tweet, Dr Swamy highlighted St Stephens case to prove the disparities in the system. The tweet calls for a re-look at the existing education system with the purpose of introducing further reforms.

Minority institutions, especially the aided Christian & Muslim universities are not even bound by government rules on caste based reservation. As these institutions don't comply with such reservations, the entire burden of uplifting students from backward classes is borne by state and Hindu administered private universities.

Hindus account for max percentage of tax revenues, yet their hard earned money is channelized into minority institutions which practice open discrimination against the same majority. These discrepancies have resulted in the spread of Madrasas and Christian education institutions.

Minority institutions are also responsible for building up the anti-India narrative (eg: anti-CAA protests by Jamia Milia, AMU and St Stephens), which is an irritant within the country. They need continuous monitoring with multiple checks to prevent spread of anti-India sentiment. Negligence in this regard can create unnecessary divide, tensions and instability in the country. Therefore, a carrot and stick policy will be more suitable while handling such institutions.

India's prevailing governance system and existing political setup don't seem to care about bringing the desired changes. Forget domination, majority Hindus are not even provided a level playing field in their own homeland. Such blatant digression of secularism won't be found in any other secular country.

Don't permit foreign universities to set up branches in India: BJP leader, Dr Subramanian Swamy

BJP government has come up with a new education policy (NEP), which is being lauded across different sections of society. NEP 2020 has replaced 34 year old National Policy on Education, framed in 1986.

Although seen as a mixed bag by educationists, NEP does cover certain aspects that will be game changer in the long run. For example, inclusion of pre-schooling years in the school structure, mother tongue as a medium of instruction up to Class V and increasing government spend on education to 6% of GDP are some path breaking reforms.

On the flip side, making higher education institutes as multi-disciplinary centres of learning could adversely impact the specialized identity of engineering and technical colleges. Typically, Arts and sciences subjects don't gel well in higher education institutes that build their reputation through specialization.

Moreover, allowing foreign universities to set up campuses through 100% FDI route could adversely impact the functioning of domestic institutes. Although the FDI proposal was first cleared in UPA rule, Modi government reversed the decision in 2014 due to Dr Swamy's intervention.

Now, BJP government has cleared the UPA era FDI proposal of foreign universities which risks the existence of domestic institutes operating through limited resources. Dr Swamy's opposition to this proposal is mainly due to the source of funding of these foreign universities. The US department of education (DOE) is already investigating the funding sources of Ivy league universities such as Harvard and Yale.

According to US DOE, both the universities have received funding of US$ 6.5 billion from countries like China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and UAE. In this context, these Ivy league institutions seem to have lost their original character and values, which formed the basis of their foundation.

Allowing full FDI in higher education is against national interests due to the following reasons:
  • Some of the Foreign Universities have questionable sources of funding
  • Adverse impact on the functioning of domestic institutes
  • Foreign Universities will build their own narrative within the country which may be contrary to India's principles, values and culture.
  • Usually FDIs are driven by objectives of profitability and expansion rather than knowledge transfer
  • FDI neglects the concept of Universalism of education
Given the above context, FDI in education may not necessarily yield the stated objectives and could be counter-productive to nationalistic sentiments.
