Are stricter FDI norms sufficient to reduce Chinese influence in Indian markets?

In May 2020, India and China faced the worst ever military face-off at Galwan Valley, Hot springs, Gogra and Pangong  region in Ladakh. With the loss of 20 Indian soldiers and 43 Chinese soldiers, the Galwan valley clash was the bloodiest of all.

Growing tensions between India and China not only shook the geo-political relations across the world but it also led to the build up of hostile domestic sentiment against China's arrogance. As a result, calls for #BoycottChina grew louder and louder with each passing day.

Rising anti-China public sentiment compelled government to take some policy level measures such as stricter FDI norms for countries sharing the border with India. While this may restrict Chinese investments to certain extent, it isn't enough to neutralize the influence of China in Indian market.

Recently, People's Bank of China raised its stakes in HDFC bank to more than 1% and later also invested in ICICI Bank through the FPI route. Although the government is mulling imposing restrictions on Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) from China, it may not yield the desired effect.

These government measures fail to address the issue of China's existing investment levels in India and steps that could reverse China's footprint in India.

Till date, Chinese firms have invested about $6.2 billion, as FDI, in tech companies, smartphone industry, apps and Indian startups. From 2015 to 2019, Chinese investments spanned over 88 different projects in India's IT and electronics sector.

In Jan 2020, PMI Electro and BYD Olectra, both Chinese companies, have won large state contracts to supply electric buses under FAME scheme of government. As per the contract, these commercial vehicle automakers will supply 1,350 electric buses across different cities.

Chinese firms such as Alibaba group, Tencent, Steadview capital and Didi Chuxing dominate  the Indian startup space. For example, 18 of the 30 Indian unicorns have witnessed investment inflow of US$ 3,500 million from Chinese firms.

Companies like Bigbasket, Zomato, Delhivery, Byju's, Flipkart, Make my trip, PayTm, Policy Bazaar, Swiggy etc. have already received Chinese investments.

Absence of local venture capital firms in the Indian start up space has resulted in domination of Chinese firms. Despite Indo-China face-off in Ladakh and consequent refusal of China to restore status, the government doesn't seem to have a concrete plan to hurt China or its economic interests in India.

Recently, the BCCI went ahead with the telecast of IPL at UAE and in a complete disregard to popular domestic sentiment, the richest cricket body chose Dream11 (another Chinese company) as its sponsor.

Few symbolic steps don't change the harsh reality of Chinese presence in Indian markets. Moreover, government steps and policy measures lack vision to counter Chinese investment blitzkrieg in the country. The disconnect between public sentiment and government response to China's aggression is visible.

Dr Swamy's three step formula to make India a VishwaGuru again

BJP leader and eminent economist, Dr Subramanian Swamy, invited as a Chief Speaker at a recent webinar of TiE on "Making India Succeed", spoke at length on India's existing challenges and viable solutions to address these challenges. However, Dr Swamy categorically focused on three major areas, which will help to improve India's world status and restore the country's past glory.

These are explained below:

Improve the state of Economy

  • Abolish income tax to boost consumption and savings among households.
  • Bring down interest rates on business loans up to the level of 6% p.a for MSMEs.
  • Increase interest rate on FDs to 9% per annum to facilitate higher savings from households.
  • Build roads to connect all villages with nearby towns. This will improve connectivity, reduce unemployment, increase purchasing power and spur demand.

Social Revolution

  • Indians must start believing in themselves as belonging to the same ancestral tree and identify themselves as product of one civilization.
  • Even before independence, India was one country and shared the same cultural values, ethos and heritage.
  • Aryan-Dravidian divide is a concocted theory deliberately imposed to create divisions between North and South India. However people from both parts of India share the same DNA and the only difference is the color of skin which is due to pigmentation.
  • Focus on the revival of Sanskrit by encouraging its use within households. This will help to restore Bharat's 10,000 years old cultural glory.

Equal Treatment of Women

India has had a history of strong women warriors who happily embraced death instead of kneeling before the opponents. The likes of Queen of Jhansi, Rani Chenamma, and Rani Ambakka Chowta had unsettled the mightiest of opponents. The modern Indian women carry the same warrior blood in their veins and therefore, they are no less than men in any respect. Moreover, we are living in a knowledge driven environment, where physical strength does not matter as much as mental strength.

Western cultural influence has led to deterioration in the perception of women, which has resulted in increased incidences of their ill treatment. Nonetheless, earnest efforts must be made to respect & treat women with honor and dignity. Education for equality of women and girl child must begin from the early childhood to usher in a change in mindset of  the new generation.

Vatican's dubious meddling in Indian affairs through its network of Churches across India

Since India's independence, the Church has directly or indirectly influenced the electoral process in our country. During hey days of Congress, Church's role was relatively subtle in comparison to its present day involvement. It seems BJP's recent electoral successes have ruffled the ministries of Church.

Without doubt, the rise in public outcry by Church over threat to secularism and random acts of vandalism stems from growing influence of Hindutva in India. As a result, since 2014, different churches across India have been issuing letters (or fatwas) to their followers and warning them about the grave threat to secularism due to rise in Hindu nationalism.

Following are some of the examples of Church's growing interference during elections:

  • In December 2015, the Archbishop of Faridabad-Delhi Syro Malabar Church, Kuriakose Bharani Kulangara in a letter, wrote that victory of Mahagathbandhan in Bihar is a victory of secular forces over sectarian forces
  • In November 2017, the Archbishop of Gandhinagar, Thomas Macwan spoke about rising insecurity among minorities, OBC, SC etc.
  • In May 2018, the Archbishop of Delhi, Anil Couto spoke about the existing political turmoil which threatens the secular fabric of the nation.
  • In Jun 2018, the Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Filipe Neri highlighted that constitution is in danger.
  • In December 2018, a group of priests, pastors and bishops from South Indian Churches vowed to support DMK's Stalin.
Typically, these letters preceded different state elections and were circulated to influence voter's mind in favor of secular parties. Apart from interference in elections, Indian churches have been involved in instigating anti-national sentiments, which was seen during 2011 Kudankulam nuclear plant protests.

Another intriguing fact is that majority of Bishops at Church are appointed only through the approval of Vatican. As a result, the Bishops are more inclined to follow Vatican's instructions, which are usually against India's national interests. In 2012, the Vatican had intervened to secure release of Italian marines involved in the murder of Indian fishermen. Apparently, Dr Subramanian Swamy wasn't too pleased  and he had written a detailed letter to then UPA government seeking end of diplomatic ties with Vatican.

In 2018 as well, after Delhi Archbishop, Anil Couto's unwarranted comments before Karnataka state elections,  Dr Swamy wrote a letter to PM Modi asking to shut down Vatican embassy in India. The root cause of such brazen disrespect for India's sovereignty is due to Nehru's recognition of Vatican as a state.

As a first step, de-recognizing Vatican as a state could put a lid on its anti-India activities.

Bhagwad Gita, Chaper - 2, Shloka 7, Meaning and explanation

 श्री भगवानुवाच

अशोच्यानन्वशोचस्त्वं प्रज्ञावादांश्च भाषसे।
गतासूनगतासूंश्च नानुशोचन्ति पण्डिताः।।2.11।।

Meaning:

You are grieving for those who do not need your grief. You speak the language of a learned man however, learned people never grieve for deceased and alive.

Explanation:

Krishna wants to convey to Arjuna that Bhishma and Dronacharya are such great souls that they do not deserve to be grieved. While Arjuna talks like a learned & self-realized person, he also exhibits foolishness in expressing grief for such great souls. Because learned and self-realized man never grieves for those who have left the material world and for those who are still alive.

Through his talk, Arjuna sounds like a knowledgeable and learned person, however, his sadness over possible loss of Bhishma and Dronacharya uncovers his soft corner for both. It is here, Krishna wants to highlight that self-realized persons understand that death is never a final destination. Moreover, great souls like Bhishma and Dronacharya don't get adversely affected by such events because death is a mere stopover.

Movie Gunjan Saxena fails to measure up to Nationalism; Karan Johar's Dharma Productions is all about ADHARMA

Karan Johar's latest presentation 'Gunjan Saxena' has once again reinforced the anti-national credentials of the producer. Despite Johar's declining public image, he is shamelessly pursuing the anti-national agenda with such movies. Karan Johar, it seems, has broken all barriers to achieve his avaricious goals while pleasing his masters across the border. Bollywood has become full of trash, where producers like Karan Johar defecate their worthless ideas through movies, which is later termed as creative freedom.

On several occasions, this rogue filmmaker has flamboyantly exhibited his miserable ideas on the big screen. In the movie 'Gunjan Saxena', deliberate attempts have been made to malign the reputation of prestigious institutions like Indian Air force (IAF).

A devious and dangerous game is being played to fool the audience, when a hot topic is picked up to present a theme that is anti-climax. In Gunjan Saxena too, the story of valour and patriotism for country has been mis-represented as a personal struggle of a woman in a male-dominated institution (in this case IAF). By misrepresenting the workplace ethics at India's elite institutions like IAF, Johar has played with the messaging of the film.

Such chicanery can be expected from Paki/Commie influenced Bollywoodias as they seem to have mastered the art of deception which is good enough to not just attract the audience but to influence them as well in order to create dissent within the country.

Given the extent of sleaze in Bollywood,  time is ripe for two-three surgical strikes to clean the existing mess. This won't be a big deal as Sushant's murder investigations are already in process. Investigating agencies should identify the venomous elements and thoroughly probe their sources of funding, yearly revenues, assets, Pak associations and foreign trips.

The Bollywood needs a 'RESET', which is possible if breaking-India elements are brought to books and an example is set for others.

Dr Subramanian Swamy's timely intervention brought Maldives in favor of India

Maldives, a small island nation in the southwest of India and Sri Lanka, consists of 1,200 islands and is spread over 35,000 square miles in Arabian sea. The island country witnessed fresh wind of change when political reformer, Mohammad Nasheed, won elections in 2008.

However, China's growing influence in Maldives led to the ouster of Nasheed in 2012. Later in 2013, Abdallah Yameen took control of Maldives government through Chinese support. Under Yameen's leadership, Maldives began to develop closer ties with China and Saudi Arabia.

Dr Swamy with former Maldives President, Mohammad Nasheed

In 2018, a political crisis erupted in Maldives when Yameen hinted at delaying elections and arrested opposition leaders. Apparently, China's influence was creating a bigger political crisis at the Island nation. China had already invested heavily in the infrastructure, trade and energy sectors of Maldives and was hopeful to induct Yemen in its Belt road initiative (BRI).

With China's support, Maldives internal crisis was about to snowball into a bigger mess, however, Dr Swamy's single tweet on Maldives settled the matter quickly. The tweet is given below for reference:

Dr Swamy's tweet created furore in the power corridors of Maldives as Yameen feared military intervention by India. As a result, Maldives government was forced to announce elections in 2018, which was then won by opposition leader Ibrahim Solih.

The surprise victory of Ibrahim Solih not only provided a fresh lease of life to Indo-Maldives relations but also reduced the growing Chinese influence in Indian ocean. Globally, Solih is perceived to be a pro-India leader, which is evident by Maldives recent snub to Pakistan at OIC.

In May 2020, at a virtual meet of OIC member countries, Maldives rejected Pakistan's allegation on rising Islamophobia in India. UAE also openly rejected the claim and recently, ended its oil supply and loan to Pakistan in retaliation to Pak's growing aggressiveness.

Dr Swamy's role, in setting national agenda, has always worked as a lever to raise India's stature in global politics.

Kalki's manifestation and Eight signs that prove his arrival is imminent

According to Sanatan Dharma, since time immemorial, whenever the world witnesses degradation of culture, in terms of morals and values, Bhagwan Vishnu takes birth in human form or any other living form.

The form chosen by Vishnu depends on the prevailing circumstances and consequent need of mother earth. For example, the first Avatar of Matsya (Fish) was chosen because Bhagwan Vishnu had to get back 'Vedas' hidden at the bottom of the ocean by Hriyanksh.

Till now, Bhagwan Vishnu has taken nine different avatars in different eras to restore balance on earth. From Matsya, Kurma, Varah, Narsinh to Vaman, Parshuram, Rama, Krishna and Buddha, with each Avatar born with a specific purpose.

For example, Shri Ram's objective was to finish off demons first and then slay the most powerful demon (Rakhshas) Ravana. Shri Krishna's most important goal was to impart Bhagwad Gita's gyan.

In present times, Vishnu's tenth incarnation as Kalki is expected to manifest anytime soon. Given the present level of uncertainty, the world will be in dire need of a saviour/Avatar, who will play a pivotal role in restoring the old order when India/Bharat was a VishwaGuru.

Several reasons signify that emergence of an Avatar is just round the corner. They are highlighted as below:

  • Geo-politically, the relationships among nations are tenser than ever before. A single trigger could mire the entire world into collective collateral damage.
  • Administrative systems across the world have been infected by rogue elements, who have also have reached a position, where their decisions impact the whole world.
  • Dominance of liars, psycophants, perverts, corrupted, manipulative and criminal minded people in different spheres of life.
  • Spread of pandemics like Covid-19, which has affected the health of people worldwide and forced shutdown of economic activities.
  • Advent of new diseases, such as AIDS, Cancer etc, which are difficult to cure and cause significant suffering.
  • Increased intensity of criminal activities such as money laundering, terrorism, violence, prostitution, drugs, smuggling etc.
  • Absence of purity, corruption of mind from top to smallest level of society's pyramid. Obsession with money and power however, willful neglect of spiritual practices.
  • In Kali's time, the wealthy will be considered as pious, noble and beautiful whereas the spiritual but poor will be perceived as cursed and evil.

The signs are visible and it is up to the present human beings to realize and recognize these signs. Despite the scientific advancements, falsehood prevails over truth. The world lives in an era of Darkness and further continuation could turn it into an unsustainable place for living.

Bhavishya Purana has predicted the rise of Kalki from the great land of Bharat (India), which is the cradle of world civilization. Since the evil forces are aware about this particular fact, they are trying their best to finish off Sanatan Dharma and its values from India.

Kalki's depiction of riding on a white Horse with a shining sword in his hand is predominantly allegorical. The white horse represents 'Purity' and the sword represents 'Truth'. Therefore, Kalki will lead a pure life and cut the dominant lies with the sword of 'Truth'. He will keep doing his work till the world turmoil becomes uncontrollable and just before world war 3, Kalki will reveal his true self to everyone.

Dynamically changing global environment is taking us closer to world war  3 and therefore, Kalki's manifestation isn't far off. Till then keep doing naam sankirtan to invoke Vishnu's tenth Avatar.
