Rape - An outcome of a Sick Society

Rapes have become a widespread phenomenon in India. Quite often, we hear of rape news from different cities, towns and villages of our country. While the government and administration has certainly failed to provide a safe environment to the citizens, we (as Indian citizens) have also not actively participated in creating a secure and safe environment in the country. Government's attitude is apathetic (no doubt) but we are also more or less in the same league.  The fact that many passersby did not even act after seeing a girl (lying near a road in unbearable pain), who was brutally raped and thrown out of a moving bus, only indicates the extent of self-centered abyss that we have fallen into. The fact that those on Police duty, on that fateful night, argued with each other regarding the jurisdiction area of the crime only indicates their lack of sense for humanity (leave alone the country). And even after Delhi gang rape, we as a society have created a new low in Mumbai.  ...

Solutions to the Kashmir problem

The Kashmir problem is predominantly an issue that has been created by Pakistan; however, it has magnified over the last few years due to the policy paralysis at the Center and State levels. The Indian government continues to commit errors in resolving the Kashmir issue and this has also led the people of Kashmir to set wrong aspirations. While tackling the Kashmir issue, inside-outside strategy will need to be adopted wherein the government needs to focus on two main challenges viz., internal and external. The medicine for each challenge will be different; however, the cure will be the same.  In this article, we will first discuss various possible solutions that can help us to resolve the internal issues and then, we will move on to the external challenges. Resolving Internal Issues Although solution to Kashmir problem is highly improbable under the current leadership, it is not impossible if we have strong-willed leaders at the centre and state level. Nonetheless, I ...

Know your famous media people

What you should know about Indian Media: Hindustan Times – Shobhna Bhartia , owner and editor-in-chief of Hindustan Times is a Congress MP from Rajya Sabha. Vinod Sharma, HT Political Affairs editor , is essentially a Congress spokesman on all TV panel discussions, because once his boss’ term gets over, he will be looking out for her RS seat next :-) Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghvi , famous Congress stooges (and intermediaries for UPA allies) who were exposed in the Radiagate scandal, and are virtual Congress spokespersons in their capacities as electronic media personalities, are the ones who write opinion and op-ed columns most frequently (once every week) on the editorial pages of HT. In return, Barkha and Sanghvi are rewarded with Padma Shris and other monetary compensation by the Nehru dynasty or Congress party. NDTV’s promoters are Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy . Radhika’s sister Brinda Karat is a famous CPM leader (well known for anti-Baba Ramdev views) and Brinda’s husband Pr...

Dr. Subramanian Swamy - An introduction

On this Independence Day, I wish Happy Independence to all my Indian brothers and sisters. On this auspicious day, I would like to talk of Dr. Swamy who is in a league of his own and it does seem that stepping into his shoes will be a gragantuan task.  I strongly feel that media either doesn't portray Dr. Swamy at all OR wrongly portrays him to the Indians. Even then, he has been able to touch the nerve of many young people of the country. I have interacted with number of youngsters whose eyes sparkle just by mentioning Dr. Swamy. This has led me to believe that Dr. Swamy is the voice of India's youth and vice versa.  Dr. Subramanian Swamy is a man of actions. He does what he strongly believes is right and he places his heart and soul into each of his action. He is level headed, objective, unbiased, scientific and multi-dimensional .  The best characteristic of Dr. Swamy is his commitment towards fulfilling ' National Goals ' irrespective of ...

Story of Goddess Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Goddess  Tulsi exists in the material world in the form Holy Basil plant which is highly revered among Hindus not only because of its therapeutic  qualities but also because of the legendary story attached with it.  Goddess  Tulsi came into being purely due to her devotion, dedication and chastity that she practiced in her previous birth as Vrinda - wife of a demon king (Jalandhara). While a short article is too less to describe the entire life of Goddess Tulsi, I will try to do justice while writing about the great Goddess.  Vrinda was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu as she worshipped him with great devotion. She was also chaste due to which Jalandhara (her husband) was protected from a lot of his misdeeds. Jalandhara was a powerful demon king who had become victorious all over the world; however, such continuous victories led Jalandhara to believe that he is invincible.  After defeating the Demi-Gods, Jalandhara began to believe that he is capable o...

Minimizing negativity in your life?

Attraction is the principal element when we talk of positives or negatives. Everyone's life is full of such experiences that may be negative or positive. I have seen a lot of people, who experience negativity, will start questioning - 'Why Me?' They will start acting as if they are the biggest victim of a conspiracy by universe. Well the above statement is partially true and partially false. 'Conspiracy by Universe' is true whereas 'Biggest Victim' is false. In this entire universe, plenty of people suffer in their lives which is as per the laws of the universe and hence, it is a conspiracy or a plan. On the contrary, it is wrong to assume that I am the biggest victim in the entire world or universe. It is against the laws of universe/nature, because nature is ruthless and when it punishes someone, it doesn't care whether the concerned person is a rich or poor person OR whether someone is a famous actor, sports-star, politician or a business tycoon. So ...

Karma, Luck and Destiny - Part-3

We have already discussed Karma and Luck in the first two parts of this three part series of articles. Now is the turn of Destiny -  As per Free dictionary, Destiny is a predetermined course of events that are considered to be beyond the control of human beings.  It is this predetermined course of events that we have to understand in order to understand our destiny. A lot of people understand destiny as fate; however, it is not an appropriate and sufficient condition. Because, people confuse or substitute destiny as fate which is not true. To be more precise, let me elaborate on the following: "Our fate decides our destiny but our destiny does not decide our fate."   Clearly, our fate is something which will take us closer to our destiny but fate is not the same as destiny. Then, the more important question that comes to everyone's mind is -  "If fate is different than destiny, then what is destiny." I will not hesitate to say that Destiny is our destination - i...
